With the eyes and ears of the clubbing world on Space Ibiza for the official opening party, the legendary venue didn’t disappoint!!
DJs and clubbers from all over the world made the annual pilgrimage to Space Ibiza, as the legendary super club heralded the opening of the season with one of its biggest parties ever! The responsibility of opening the Ibiza season is one that Space takes very seriously and the latest edition has set the bar high for the 2009 season.
Wall to wall A-list DJs, including Carl Cox (returning after a two year absence), Sasha, Digweed, Deadmau5, Steve Lawler, Dubfire, Paul Woolford and Yousef joined the Space residents and many other top notch entertainers as the Space opening Fiesta set the tone for summer 2009.
As well as its unparalleled DJ line up, Space opening party is renowned for its lavish production and 2009 did not disappoint; Foc I Fum delivered a Circus theme, with stilt walkers, acrobats,
magicians, trapeze artists, exotic showgirls, clowns and Flight arena hostesses adding to the carnival atmosphere.
Dance music has the unquestionable ability to unite people from different cultures under one roof in unity and harmony and the global crowd that descended on Space Ibiza paid testament to the power of the medium as well as the international standing of the legendary brand. The world’s cooler party animals started queuing from 10am, determined to pay their part in the fiesta, as were the Space residents; Dan Tait, Kris Di Angelis and Marco Loco, who set the stage expertly for the DJs that were to follow.
Highlights included Steve Angello on the Terraza and crowd favourite Carl Cox who made two appearances; firstly in the Flight arena before closing the Fiesta with a three-hour set in the Discoteca.
At 6AM, with the sun rising high in the sky, the capacity crowd showed their appreciation before reluctantly leaving the party. Ibiza 2009 is officially open and if tonight’s party is anything
to go by, promises to be the best year yet. They had travelled from the four corners of clubland to pay homage to the world’s party island, in the company of many of the world’s biggest DJs at the clubbing alter that is... Space Ibiza... The world’s discotheque!
